Basic Characteristics and Principle of Lithium Battery

Lithium battery is a kind of battery which is composed of lithium metal or lithium alloy as negative electrode material and uses non-aqueous electrolyte solution.

The earliest lithium batteries of Chinese electric bike came from the great inventor Edison, using the following reaction: mno2=limno2, which is redox, discharge.

Because of the active chemical characteristics of lithium metal, the processing, preservation and use of lithium metal require very high environmental requirements. Therefore, lithium batteries have not been used for a long time. Now lithium batteries have become the mainstream.

Disadvantages of lithium batteries:

Lithium primary batteries have poor safety and risk of explosion.

The lithium ion battery of lithium cobalt oxide can not discharge at high current, and the safety is poor.

Li-ion batteries should be protected from overcharging and discharging.

High production requirements and high cost.
